Donate Shares of Stock
Donating shares of stock is another way to make a gift to the church. The church has a brokerage account at E*TRADE Securities. If you are interested in donating stock, call E*TRADE’s Customer Service line (below) and ask for assistance with the process. If securities are in another brokerage house, contact them for information on how to make a transfer. Please let EHUMC Finance know if you make a stock transfer.
Taxpayers age 70 ½ or older can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD), up to $100,000, directly from an IRA (SEP or SIMPLE IRAs not included) to the church. This type of donation is generally a nontaxable distribution made by the IRA trustee directly to a charitable organization. A qualifying deduction may also count toward the taxpayer's annual Required Minimum Distribution. Please consult with your tax preparer or financial advisor if you have tax questions.
