One of the best parts of my job as the Preschool Director is giving tours to new families. Meeting outside the Education Building doors and walking into the beautifully renovated Family Life Center space fills me with pride. Every time. The clean lines, well-thought-out color palette, and boldly pronounced mission statement are the perfect introduction to Embry Hills UMC Preschool and Kindergarten.
A typical school tour continues down the 200 hallway, as I introduce our sweet library, the beautiful chapel, and the room that is currently my office. I save the 300 hallway for last: we peek into classrooms, admire the garden murals, and then it happens. Every time. The children spot the playground. It’s unmistakable, unavoidable, and purely magical. The space is generous and on a beautiful day, it provides time for children to explore and for parents to witness the simplest joy that is our outdoor space. It’s the clincher. The closer. It’s priceless. Except it isn’t.
We need to invest in our preschool’s crown jewel to restore its former glory and keep it in shape. The Embry Hills Capital Campaign has included the preschool play space in its plans and for that I am thankful. We share it with LaAmistad, Sunday School, Camp Buzz, and countless members of the community. It’s an important element of growing the church and of growing up in the church. Thank you for your consideration and in advance for your generosity.
