Dear friends,

In the midst of the many changes we are all experiencing right now, I write this week to let you know that our Embry Hills Preschool & Kindergarten will not open for the fall semester in September. As you will read in the letter below, this recommendation came from our Re-Gathering team in consultation with Stephanie Train, our new Preschool and Kindergarten Director. We believe this decision affirms our top priority keeping our preschool and kindergarten community safe.

We do look forward to the school opening at some point in the future and resuming our ministry with young children and their families in our community. I am especially grateful that Stephanie has come on staff to continue the legacy of Sally Kramer and Adele Harrison and the staff and leadership of our wonderful school these past 57 years. There are many more good years in our future!

Peace,

Susan

Preschool and Kindergarten Families,

After much thought and consideration, the Embry Hills Administrative Council has upheld the recommendation of the Re-Gathering Team and determined that our school will remain closed for the fall semester.

While this was a difficult decision to make, when we thought about the scope of protecting the lives of teachers, students, and their families, it was the right choice. Our hope is that the country, our county, and specifically this community, sees a marked recession in COVID activity - to the extent we feel opening the school second semester is a safe option. We will evaluate that possibility mid-to-late October. In the meantime, there is plenty of work to be done to prepare for our inevitable reunion.

I want Pre-K and Kindergarten parents to know we are especially sensitive to your student's academic needs and the timeliness of certain milestones. We will be working to tailor the curriculum of our second semester to include as many critical components as possible. Look for more information from us in that regard.

There is wonderful value in the preschool experience. I sincerely hope that we are able to come together in January and start the new year with friends we miss in a place we love. Thank you for your patience. Please reach out to me anytime and look for updates as we move forward.
