It’s a grim fact. During difficult economic times when families are most in need of help, donations decrease. Perhaps the most poignant example of this phenomenon is the food bank that struggles to serve those looking for help, but can’t keep enough food on the shelves. No food bank wants to turn anyone away.

The 75 churches of the Atlanta-Emory District of the North Georgia Conference are building a Habitat-for-Humanity townhome off of Hwy 29 across from the Pike's Nursery. The cost to the District is $75K, and Embry Hill's portion of that is $4K. Construction will commence on Saturday, February 13, 2010 and continue every Saturday for seven weeks, depending upon weather. There will be a website, to be released January 24, 2010, where individuals may sign up to work on any Saturday(s) of their choice.

Bishop Michael Watson has sent out a plea to United Methodists throughout the area to support the future of the North Georgia Advocate, the conference’s official print news source.

The first Wednesday Night Supper for 2010 is January 13.
