I don't know about you but I feel like I've been languishing these last few weeks, often known in the south as the "Dog Days of Summer." Yes, the heat has been oppressive, the humidity pretty much unbearable and I've found few reasons that I should venture outdoors. After all, air conditioning was created for our comfort, right?

I wonder sometimes what it must have been like during these summer days without a/c. As a child, we had one window unit placed strategically in the family room; my brothers and I would compete to find the one spot in the room that had the most cold air flow. At night, we used fans positioned in open windows to move air into our bedrooms.

Fortunately, September marks the beginning of autumn, which means that (eventually) cooler days and nights are heading our way. It also marks the beginning of a new calendar at Embry Hills; the new schedule officially begins Wednesday September 8th. September 8th also marks the beginning of Cafe del Soul (or more commonly known as Wednesday Night supper). If you haven't joined us for supper on Wednesday nights, you are missing out on valuable fellowship with other church members. Will you consider making that a part of your weekly ritual and routine?? It's a great opportunity to keep your own kitchen clean and to breaking bread with family and friends. Hope to see you there.
