United Methodist Women

Here we are at the end of 2010. The Embry Hills United Methodist Women offer much thanks and gratitude to the support we have been given in our efforts of mission for women, youth and children both close to us and to those far off. We will continue in Faith-Hope-and Love in Action for 2011 and we invite all women to become a part of this division of the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church.

Over the year, we have served women at the Women’s Kitchen at Grace UMC, baked goods for the bake sale and sent items for the Children’s Home Flea Market, held a cookout and swimming party for women and children in transitional housing at the Children’s Home, collected Campbell soup labels for Murphy Harpst School and have begun a mission to make flannel blankets for the Murphy Harpst kids. The Square Pegs began with just a few blankets and after finding out the number of children at the school ordered more and have involved kids and others in the project. The 2nd annual Ten Thousand Villages Sale and the Chili Cook Off recently was tremendous. We will soon be filling Christmas bags with toothbrushes, toothpaste, tissues, shampoo, socks, wash rags and some candy canes and goodies to take for those who come to Women’s Kitchen for lunch.

There is still time to take advantage of the RADA Cutlery fundraiser. UMW members have the catalogs and order forms. In order to get the merchandise for you to use as Christmas gifts, we need your order by December 3. However, you may order directly through their website: www.helpourfundraiser.com. Use 502867 as the customer number and ehumw (case sensitive) for the pass word. RADA will then send us our part.

One more opportunity for this year: If you need a great Christmas present, we have cookbooks available. For $15.00 you can get a book with great recipes and the monies received will go for missions.

Don’t wait – Check us out – Join with us as we move to 2011. There is plenty of room and plenty of ways United Methodist Women can be in mission.

Begin 2011 by coming to our General Meeting of EHUMW on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. followed by lunch in the Fellowship Hall.
