Sunday School

At the heart of John Wesley’s work were small groups or societies through which members supported one another in "doing good of every possible sort, and, as far as possible, to all".

See how you might become part of a contemporary extent of Wesley’s vision.

CHILDREN'S CLASSES - Sundays at KidzTown

NURSERY - Infants & Toddlers
8:45am, 9:45am & 11:00am in the KidzTown Wing

The nursery is your child’s first experience with God’s family and we want it to be a positive one. Our goal is to reflect the love of God to your child while in the nursery. Our dedicated staff and volunteers provide loving childcare for children infants to age 3 during all worship services and other special events.

SUNDAY SCHOOL - 9:45am - 10:45am
Preschoolers through 3rd Grade
9:45am in the KidzTown Wing

What do you get when you combine fun and learning about God's love with the faithful guidance of caring teachers? You have a wonderful Sunday school program for children. Using the Workshop Rotation Model, children experience the stories of God's word incorporating the various ways we each learn. Over a semi- 5-week period, children "rotate" weekly through our exciting new theme-focused learning rooms. One week it might be cooking in the KidzTown Café, or storytelling in the KidzTown Library. The next week the kids might be learning the lesson in the computer lab at the KidzTown Connection, or by watching a video in the KidzTown Cinema, or even through art or science in the KidzTown Clubhouse. Our preschoolers are learning the same lesson of our elementary age children through a similar version of the Workshop Rotation Model.

YOUTH CLASSES

Club 45 : Sundays @ 9:45am & Wednesdays @ 6:30 pm – Room 211

Club 45, the program for our 4th and 5th graders, is designed to help bridge the gap between children’s ministry and youth ministry by offering a ministry designed for our pre-teens. As they begin to desire independence and begin to form their own opinions and thoughts on life issues, we want Embry Hills UMC to be a place where they feel safe, and where they feel like they belong. On Sunday mornings, kids will meet for discussion based lessons. During this time our 4th and 5th graders will be challenged to move toward thinking more abstractly in a non-threatening manner. The Wednesday night sessions reinforce Sunday curriculum and conversations so that no one misses out, but also allow time for special projects and the space for more active forms of interaction. Lots of laughter is expected in the midst of learning on either day! Special events for outreach and fellowship take place throughout the year for this group, as well. If you are not on the Club 45 e-mail list, but should be, contact Victoria Lawson@ victorial@embryhillsumc.org or 770-938-0661, ext.113.

Youth Sunday Discussion: Sundays @ 9:45am–Room 403

All 6th-12th graders are invited to come and share their thoughts on the topic of the day at Youth Sunday Discussion. Varying topics are introduced through music, quotations, current events or are curriculum-based. Discussion generally begins in age-based small groups, such as junior high and senior high. Along with first impression thoughts, youth are encouraged to relate the topic to the Bible as well as to “real-life” issues and experiences. After the group reunites to share their thoughts, the Discussion Leader summarizes the day’s discussions and suggests ways the youth can focus on this particular topic for the week. It is a fun time of thought-provoking discussion relating our faith to our everyday actions. Oh and don't forget we have donuts!
