Embry Hills UMC to Host 2nd All-Inclusive Family Event, “Love Makes a Family” Book Reading and Concert

All families are special and all families come in different shapes and sizes. To help celebrate the family, Embry Hills United Methodist Church in northeast Atlanta, is once again hosting a special “Love Makes a Family” event on Saturday, February 6 from 3 to 6 p.m. Families of all types are welcome to join in for a fun afternoon of family-oriented events celebrating family togetherness. There will be family book readings, arts and crafts and a special musical concert by Atlanta’s own “Laughing Pizza” that will conclude the event. There will even be pizza, salad, drinks and dessert available for sale. So bring the whole family, share in the fact that love indeed makes every family special, and finally enjoy a great family-styled concert while sharing dinner with your family.

“Last year was the first time we welcomed every type of family to this event. Our mission is to be an inclusive community of faith, where everyone is welcome, no exceptions. This is our second year hosting this very important community event. We want every family to be a part of this inclusive event – straight or gay, African-American, Hispanic or Caucasian, Christian, Muslim or Jewish, single-parents and “blended’ families are welcomed” says Reverend Mark Sargent, Senior Pastor, Embry Hills United Methodist Church. This year’s books have been selected to represent all types of families, the crafts have been enhanced, the outdoor play ground will be opened and an ethnic food tasting has been added. “Every family should come and be a part of this wonderful celebration, regardless of who is in their family. We are grateful to have Laughing Pizza join us again. They are spectacular and inclusive of all families.” states Sargent.

Tickets for all activities, including the concert, are only $5/individual (maximum $20/family) and will be sold at the door on a first come, first served basis. Tables are available for an additional cost of $25 per table (8 seats). Space is limited, so be sure to come early. The doors will open at 2:45 p.m. for the event and at 4:45 p.m. for the concert. If you wish to reserve a table for the concert, please contact the church office at (770) 938-0661, ext. 121.
