Victoria Lawson, Director of Youth Ministries
Victoria Lawson received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Furman University. In September, 1999, she left a management position with Sears, Roebuck & Company just before her 10th year with the company in search of a position with a sense of fulfillment and meaning beyond net profit in a place that was more family-friendly. The timing was right and the position of Church Secretary at Embry Hills UMC came open at the same time. What better fit for her needs than the very church in which she had been raised! In May, 2006, Victoria began her role as the Director of Witness & Outreach, a newly developed program position for EHUMC. In 2009, she began serving as Directory of Youth Ministries, serving 6th-12th graders and their families. Pre-Teen Ministries and Outreach were added to her role in 2011.
Music still plays an active role in her life with recital and other solo work. Previously, she sang with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under Robert Shaw, and the DeKalb Choral Guild under Bryan Black. She directed adult handbells at Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church, vocal and bell choirs for children and youth at Embry Hills and taught music classes to the church’s weekday Pre-School/Kindergarten.
Ms. Lawson has two children, Michael and Ashleigh, who attend J. Richards Middle and Cedar Hill Elementary Schools in Gwinnett County. Both are active in church, music and baseball/softball in their community.
