As United Methodist Women here at Embry Hills we constantly strive to achieve the purpose of being a community of women who come to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to strive to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to seek to expand concepts of missions through global ministries of the church. We realize that October will offer us a full and busy month as we strive to fulfill the purpose.

On Monday evening, October 5, at 7:30 p.m., the Square Pegs will join together at the “Tah Cha” Tea House at North Hills Shopping Center. Over delicious cups of tea, fellowship and plans will be made for the upcoming visit to Jerusalem House set for Saturday, October 24 from 10:30—12 noon. The Square Pegs will be hosting a Halloween Party for 12 children while their parents participate in a book club. LeyAnna Messick (sl.messick@comcast.net) will be delighted to give you additional details if you are interested in participating.

The Children’s Home Auxiliary is having its Fall Flea Market on October 9 and 10. The Auxiliary works very hard to offer monetary support to the Children’s Home and the Flea Markets have worked wonders. The spring sale raised about $32,000. On these days, there is also baked goods sold as well as a sandwich shop. The Embry Hills UMW will take baked goods to the Children’s Home leaving the church parking lot at 8:30 a.m. on the 9th. You may either meet Sue Ownbey in the parking lot on the 9th or leave your items in the church’s kitchen on Thursday, October 8th.

Service Project of the Month: Foster Care Support Foundation
This organization was begun by a couple of women at Roswell UMC collecting baby and children clothes to be made available for Foster Parents. It has grown and grown and they now have their own facility to keep and organize all donations for babies through teenage clothes. Foster parents from all over Georgia are able to come to pick out clothes and toys for the children they are parenting. About 3600 to 4000 children receive items from this organization yearly. We will be collecting items (gently used items) or monetary gifts for Foster Care in October as our project.

Mr. Gideon Robe, Executive Director of The Kenya Project, will be our speaker at the General Meeting on Tuesday, November 3 at 10:00 a.m. It is our World Thank Day, the day we make our gifts to the United Methodist Women World Thank Offering…..more info next month. We extend an invitation to all to join us.

Do you need to know who we (UMW) are? Please ask.
