April 2009
Spring is bustin’ out all over! And this April edition of the Embry Hills “Source” is about as full as it’s ever been. Let’s face it: in these budget-crunching times, I am the last person that wants to be accused of frivolous spending. But despite my efforts to trim the newsletter down to its normal 12 pages, we as a congregation are doing so many things that need to be shared with others that this 20 page volume far exceeds anything I ever imagined a church newsletter would be. No one can accuse our members of not being involved!
Sadly over the past few months we have lost a number of our members, and we grieve together with their families and loved ones their passing. But we also rejoice at the beautiful children who have been born into this world to parents of our congregation. And we happily welcome the new families who have recently joined us in worship and fellowship.
Read through the following pages and see how Embry Hills members are making a difference: in our lives, in our community, and in our world. Despite the difficulties we most certainly will encounter during our lifetime, there is never a time that God won’t see us through the challenges.
Easter is almost here. And as you look around and enjoy the beauty an Atlanta spring brings, don’t forget that Jesus’ life ended abruptly as he predicted, not because he accepted the status quo, but because he challenged it. May we as children of God continue to challenge the norm.
