VictoriaWGiraffe_smVictoria Lawson received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Furman University. In September, 1999, she left a management position with Sears, Roebuck & Company just before her 10th year with the company in search of a position with a sense of fulfillment and meaning beyond net profit in a place that was more family-friendly. The timing was right and the position of Church Secretary at Embry Hills UMC came open at the same time. What better fit for her needs than the very church in which she had been raised!

To me Embry Hills Youth means a place where I always can find friends to support me, accept me for who I am and help me make good choices. Ms. Victoria has helped build friendship among the Youth members and we all feel like family.

Currently, Victoria serves as Director or Outreach & Youth Ministries, working with the Work Area on Outreach and the 6th-12th graders and their families. Previous programming roles have included the areas of Witness and Club 45 (pre-teen ministries).

Music still plays an active role in her life with recital and other solo work and directing the Cherub & Jubilate Children’s Choirs at EHUMC. Previously, she sang with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under Robert Shaw, the DeKalb Choral Guild, and directed adult handbells and served as interim music director at Ogelthorpe Presbyterian Church, as well as the pre-school music program and youth choirs at Embry Hills.

Ms. Lawson has two children, Michael and Ashleigh, who attend Parkview High and Trickum Middle Schools in Gwinnett County. Both are active in their schools, EHUMC, and baseball/softball in their community.
